How to upload your photos to the PhotoArtForums.com Forums > Gallery:

Firstly, you do need to be a member of the Forums

If you are not yet a member, you can sign-up for free here!

Secondly, you need to be logged-in!

Check to see if your user name and avatar is displayed in that little box at the top right-hand side of this page. If not, then you need to click on the "Sign In" link.

Now you can start uploading images from your computer!

First, you need to decide exactly where you would like to upload your image(s). You can either create your own albums or you can upload to any of the common albums in either of the Art or Photography categories of the gallery. If you want to upload to any of the common albums, you will need to be at the index page for the album concerned before you will see the "Upload Image" link. (This does make sense! You can only upload an image to an album... You can't upload an image to an image!!)

If you would prefer to create your own album(s), click on the down arrow on that little box with your user name, up there at the top right-hand side of this page. Select "My Settings." Then click on the "Gallery" tab - along that row of tabs at the top of the page; (under where it say's "Your Options.") Click on "Create Album" and give your new album a title. (It is also useful to enter something in the description box, as this will make it easier for search engines like Google and Yahoo to find your album.) Then click on the little down arrow where it says "Select an Operation." After that, click either "New Image" or "Bulk Upload" and select each image seperately, from wherever it has been saved on your computer. (Use the "Browse" button to select an image, where it say's "Image to upload.") When you are ready, you can scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the "Submit Image" or "Post Multiple Files" link to start uploading your image(s) to the gallery.

You will find that your images will upload much faster - and with far less trouble, if you can get the file sizes down to about 250Kb before you attempt to upload them. (The gallery software will automatically reduce larger image files but very big files will take an awful long time to process - and they may even take forever!!)

Note: If you have selected "New Image," rather than "Bulk Upload," you will get the option to enter an image caption and a description for your image; (under where it say's "Photo Information.") It is not essential to fill in these fields but your image will not get indexed by Google or Yahoo etc. search engines if you leave them blank. (Which means, basically, that no one except your friends will ever get to see your wonderful art or the photos that you have uploaded!!)

If you use the "Bulk Upload" option, you can upload from a zip file - or you can enter up to 10 seperate images to upload. You can then enter image captions, (titles) and descriptions after the images have been uploaded to the gallery. (Just use "Mod Options" and then "Edit Image.")
